![]() The first of the series, and much later redone for the Sega Saturn as "Yuna Remix", Yuna is a simple "digital comic" with an added battle system. The game was originally published in early 1992. The player guides Yuna on her first adventure as a Galaxy Fraulein. The story, for a game, is pretty linear, with few choices what to do. Upon entering battle, a combat interface appears and you can select Yuna's method of attack, defense, or insult (which can also do some damage to a character). The effective damage of both Yuna and her opponent's attack is entirely random, which the Saturn remake changes significantly. Defeat of an opponent usually results in a cheesecake picture of the character stripped of her armor, as a sort of naughty reward for making progress. The display in Yuna PCE is mostly 1/4 of the full screen, and the character designs are still very early and younger-looking than in later games and the remake. A later rerelease of Yuna PCE comes with an added bonus disk which has the original Yuna pilot film animation in a highly compressed propretary format. You can view a tiny avi file of the whole thing at the TurboList's PC Engine Movie Archives. |
